202. Kill Bill: Volume 2 (2004)

Continuing the story of The Bride’s attempts to get past her old colleagues and to kill Bill, the boss of the Deadly Vipers, and the man who tried to kill her and took the baby she was carrying.

Told mainly in flashback from the day before her intended wedding day, and the time she received martial arts training from Pai Mei, a kung fu master who taught her an infamously lethal technique. She intends to use this manoeuvre on Bill if she can, of course, get past the attempts to bury her alive by the remaining Deadly Vipers…

Not quite as much fun as the first part, Volume 2 is a long drawn out spaghetti western. But Uma Thurman is likeable as the avenging Bride, and Daryl Hannah in all honesty has never been better as the totally psychopathic Elle. It’s a good second part although the action makes way for much more soul-searching dialogue – maybe less of the waffle would have made a much tighter, and ultimately better, film.

7/10
