56. X Files – I Want to Believe (2008)

Oh dear. What the hell happened? The first X Files film from 1998 was a great feature-length episode with lots of action, scary bees and alien conspiracy theories galore.

This second outing is so unbelievably bad, I lost all idea of what was going on about halfway in. Not because it was confusing, but because I was bored rigid.

The chemistry between the two leads was the only reason it gained any marks at all. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are still great in their roles as Mulder and Scully, and I was pleased to say that they seemed genuinely close, but the storyline was so breathtakingly dull, that even their attempts to pick it up, failed abysmally.

It is such a shame that it had to end like this.
